Linda, a Lay Carmelite, will speak about Edith Stein. Edith Stein was a Jewish philosopher living in Germany from 1891 to 1942. Although raised Jewish she eventually lost faith in God altogether and concentrated heavily on her studies in Philosophy. One day, after reading 'The Book of her Life' by St Theresa of Avila, Edith found the answer she had sought. She asked for Baptism and converted to the Catholic Faith. She then became a Carmelite nun, but was arrested at her monastery, because she was Jewish, deported to Auschwitz and died in the camp August 9,1842.
